Microgreens
Microgreens! …Microgreens…? What are they? How are they used? Why should I get them?
Microgreens are essentially tiny, edible plants harvested 7-14 days after germination, when they are typically between 2-4 inches tall. They are known for their concentrated flavors and high nutrient content. Depending on the plant, a microgreen can contain 4-20 times more nutrients than its fully grown counterpart! Microgreens are distinguished from sprouts by their cultivation method and the stage of development when harvested. Since we're cutting the plant off right before it goes on and becomes the real deal, we're maximizing nutrition while minimizing size.
Our farm specializes in Black Oil Sunflower microgreens. Black Oil Sunflower is a power player in the world of microgreens. It provides some of the best nutritional content among microgreens, but is also more demanding to grow than other types of microgreens. If conditions vary even a little bit in the wrong direction, a tray of greens can meet its end. As such, our commitment and careful care towards growing beautiful Black Oil microgreens allows us to provide fresh and nutritious microgreens to all of our customers.
