Spices

For millennia, spices have been an integral part of human society…

That statement holds true even today! Spices!

While we are currently a microgreens-focused farm, we will soon be starting our spice growing operation. Beginning in the Fall, we will start producing saffron, our first spice. We intend for saffron to be our flagship product. In fact, saffron cultivation is the dream this farm was built on!

Saffron is a premium spice that goes great with rice dishes, and it can be found in many cuisines in the eastern hemisphere. Saffron is a sensitive plant, however, and can only flourish in very specific conditions. Aside from the Middle East, India, and Spain, our location in Northern California is one of the few regions in the world that has ideal growing conditions for saffron. Despite the East having grown saffron for thousands of years, the acceleration of climate change has put a real damper on their saffron yields just in the past decade. As such, we intend to emerge as a global player in the saffron market and fill the gaps in supply that have been created. Our goal is to supply the highest-quality saffron around at a reasonable market price.

Once we have completed our saffron farming phase, we will then branch out to other spices. We intend to offer a wide variety of high-quality spices to our customers. The spices we plan on offering aside from saffron include:

  • Capsicum (peppers)

  • Chilis

  • Rosemary

  • Parsley (Italian)

  • Basil (a couple types)

  • Garlic

  • Black Garlic

  • Bay Leaves

Spices have a much slower harvesting cycle compared to microgreens, so our spice operation will take a bit more time to reach full capacity. That being said, we plan to offer our first batch of saffron to customers some time in 2026. After we have a consistent flow of saffron, we will begin our expansion to provide the spices listed above. By 2027, we aim to be supplying all of the spices above to customers around the world.
